birthday

It's my birthday tomorrow. Feeling rather miserable because I can't go out, can't walk, can't have an unhealthy beer for fear of flare-ups with gout / arthritis thing in feet and now NEW for Friday in my knee too!

So, any ideas for at home birthday celebration appreciated.

Has to be better than birthday 2000 when I was just out of hospital and between hospitalisations and fucked in the head on dodgy prescription drug conflicts. Hey ho.

On the bright side ... I'm losing weight.

More cheery posts later ... just having some lunch at 12:50 despite what the time says on this blog entry. I haven't got around to flicking it into BST and in a few weeks we're back off daylight saving anyway ... oh and no one cares.

If Mr Rose cannot venture out to celebrate his birthday, this need not necessarily mean that he cannot celebrate it with his friends. (Unless there is something so truly unpleasant in his flat that he would be ashamed to let them in.)

Can he persuade any of them to visit him, ideally laden down with cake, candles, balloons, party hats and non-alcoholic beer?

As a post script to her earlier comment, Lady Bracknell is unsure whether Mr Rose is suggesting that no-one cares about the clocks going back, or that no-one cares about him.

In any event, neither of these things is true.

And, as a further post script, Lady Bracknell has, in the past, booked an "official birthday" some time after her real one to accommodate the fact that she was unwell on the actual day. Her theory is that, as long as one wasn't fit enough to celebrate the real one, it is not cheating to postpone one's celebrations.

Hi Damon, Happy Birthday mate for tommorrow! You could always have a drinks party at home and ask your friends to bring some food or drink between them to help celebrate. Hope you get better soon as I wanted to speak to you on the phone about sometihng.

Many Happy returns for tomorrow, Damon!

Happy Birthday Damon! I have had many homebound birthdays, plus of course it's Christmas Eve when everywhere is crowded and everybody always has prior engagements and forgets it's my birthday, something to do with some Jesus chap apparently, huh!

Lady B's got it spot-on really. Do something fun but quiet, something indulgent today by yourself or with any family or friends who come round. But set a date a bit later on, by which time you can reasonably expect some improvement if not a full recovery and have a proper party then.

Hope you can keep comfortable today and have a good time whatever you do.

I set up a live chat and had a virtual birthday party this year. Too broke to really do anything, so we all sat around the phosphorus glow of our monitors and passed around the virtual refreshments.

Not only cheap, but calorie free, and I didn't have to clean house. Oh, and we had a pretty good time of it, too.

Many returns of the day, and just party hearty when you feel more like it. Remember, I will always be a hell of a lot older than you.

Cheers!

Happy birthday Damon. No suggestions really unless to indulge yourself in something you really really like, eg a whole bag of M&S prawns to yourself or a particular music track played really loud on repeat, or....

Wow! Thank you everyone! Got I was in a whinging mood yesterday ... thanks for all your ideas but sadly 'indlugence' in or out is soemthing I can't do. No cake, no prawns, no beer. ;) Hey ho. Decided on some strawberries as being a bit extravagant but was told they're out of season. I DIDN'T KNOW WE STILL HAD SEASONS WITH VEG AND FRUIT! Not in these days of environmentallly unfriendly long haul fruit deliveries?!? An Innocent Smoothie has served well so far tho ;)

What's this lights thing on BlindKiss you're talking about Turtle?

Gimpy Mumpy: my bad birthday in 2000 was my 30th too! So, answer here is, don't turn thirty, ever. Are you listening youngsters.

Oh and ... I note I've not had a card or a prezzie or even a phone call from ex mate Sara (her of "I forgot we were going out" fame).

Ha! ha! Not turning 30 is something I can't stop, Damon! I'll be 30 next year! Groan!

Lady Bracknell, for reasons which now escape her, got engaged on her 30th birthday. Now that was a mistake.....

Happy birthday!

Who said strawberries are out of season? I bought some in Tesco last week, and they're open 24 hours...There's still time, phone that Sara and send her out to fetch you strawberries NOW! A few drops of balsamic vinagar is supposed to be really nice on strawberries, but it has to be the REALLY expensive stuff, tell her.

I have suffered with gout for years now, in toes, ankles and worst of all (off possible) my knees and it flipping hurts and occasionally reduces me to crutches.

For me, what helps ease the pain is a nice hot bath. For pain relief, I take (only when needed) Etoricoxib 120mg tablets (1 a day as required) and if I need a bit of extra help, co codimal helps. This combination normally helps me back onto my feet (literally) within a couple of days.

I still eat what I want, but in moderation and I have taken to the gym aboutv3 times a week which really has helped as my attacks have lessened to about one every 3 months or so now (weight management). But although I slip up every now and again, I really try to avoid asparagus as this doubles the metabolism which in turn can and the onset of gout.

Hope this helps.
