Firmly stuck in the 80s

Remember that early 80s look ... burgandy stay pressed trousers, green flight jackets and/or those Yale jumpers that were the rage for five minutes back there?

Well, I have this problem. To me, they're still the height of cool. In my head, ra-ra skirts and bonce boppers are quite the thing.

Having become blind in 1984 at the age of 13, an impressionable age where you want to be 'in the fashion', I find it hard to break out. The last images I ever saw were from that dark early Thatcher post punk modern romantic period where even rap culture hadn't got beyond 'hey you the rocksteady crew'.

TO me, Keith Chegwin is still fresh-faced whereas I gather he's a little more haggered now. Michael Jackson is a good looking black lad in my head, but of course now he's ... well, he's dead but he was apparently white with a funny shaped Peter Pan nose which I can only imagine that I can imagine. Is Tarrant still blonde or did he go grey?

It's as a result of all this that I am obsessed with the 80s. Was I ever glad when Absolute 80s started broadcasting a few months ago; a radio station dedicated to the music and era that I am visually stuck in. The world outside has changed, and indeed so have I in reality, but I still think the graphics in Tron were awesome and probably can't be bettered. (wow that Light Sea).

I find my memory for the 80s is ridiculously good. Because I've not had any images being input to my brain in the past 26 years, I've not had them pushed out or updated. My memory of TV shows, music and comics is borderline embarrassing.

Am I the only one? Come on, time to confess in the comments below. Are you stuck in an era and why? Oh and when I last attempted the 'Mod Walk' on a dance floor, I was hurriedly told to stop by a slightly flustered girlfriend who wondered what on earth I was doing. Right, like as if big fish little fish looks any good?
